The hosts picked us up at the train station and drove us to the property. They gave us a gift basket of crackers and jams and a tasty bottle of white wine. Maurizio was very available to answer any and every question throughout our stay. Tropea is a wonderful town with a happy energy. ☹ We stayed in the La Niña unit, which has a street view and small balcony. It is good apartment and we had a great time, but we were attracted to this property by the sea view photos in the listing. The neighboring La Pinta unit has the spectacular sea view. Beaches, major sites, piazza, restaurants and shops all accessible by foot. The location is fantastic. We had a room with no view, but spent most of our waking hours outdoors anyway. Isola Santa Maria Sanctuary, Church of San Francesco d’Assisi/Santa Margherita Chapel, beaches (plenty of options for both public and private), restaurants (Tomate in Piazza Vittorio Veneto had fantastic food with music and dancing), and shops. We loved “Il Mantice” for souvenirs and terracotta art. The balcony was amazing with an incredible view. There was a big tv, large closet, and great air conditioning. Maurizio left yummy treats for us: wine, local honey, marmalade, fig jam, and another spicy spread. It was nice to have 2 full length mirrors. We highly recommend staying in Maurizio’s place. The bathroom was very nice. The apartment was in a great central location, and we were very happy to take advantage of the free parking. Don’t be afraid to use the suggested free lot as we found it safe and just a short walk from the apartment. The steps are a bit narrow but not a problem for us. Maurizio and his daughter were very responsive, friendly and helpful. We’d highly recommend this Airbnb, and as a final note, we’d add that the pictures do not do the place justice. It’s bigger than we thought. Go there!
